Object of the week: Seat support
The cylinder of the seat holder fits precisely into the tube of the chassis. The recess that prevents it from turning must not swing out. At the same time, it must be possible to remove the seat in just a few steps, as it is the first part to be removed during many service jobs so that the mechanic can access the batteries and the electronics.
Depending on the weight of the driver, considerable forces act on the seat holder of KYBURZ vehicles. Today, therefore, an alloyed steel is used, which is then also well protected by galvanisation.
In the past, the seat rails were welded at right angles to the cylinder. With the introduction of the seat box, it is now an acute angle. The seat rails no longer run horizontally, which has the advantage that when the seat is pushed forward, it also lies lower.
Good to know:
Many long-time KYBURZ employees refer to "The Seat-H". This is not as an abbreviation of "bracket", but because the component originally had the visual shape of an H.
