Product name vs alias vs nickname
ePedelec versus ePed versus Bumblebee
A nickname is a pseudonym that an artist, for example, chooses instead of his or her civil name. For Internet users, the nickname is a self-chosen designation for writing anonymous posts in blogs. In contrast, the nickname in German usage is rarely self-chosen, sometimes even unknown to the bearer of the name, as is often the case with teachers. Nicknames "do" much more than simply refer to a person. They reflect the social relationship and its emotional evaluation between two people. A product name is an indication that allows identification from a variety of makes.
The name ePedelec is a one-to-one KYBURZ product designation. For some of us, this designation is colloquially too long. That is why the four-wheeled mail carrier is increasingly called "ePed". Less gallant is the nickname "tractor", although a certain similarity to the indispensable farming tools cannot be denied. A pleasing nickname - discovered on the retrofit tour through Germany - was found for our ePed by the employees of the mail distribution centre in Aachen: "Bumblebee".
Bumblebee is a 2018 US action and science fiction feature film. In the film, "Bumblebee" is a yellow, giant-sized, steel robot (Transformer) and as a car he is a yellow Chevrolet Camaro with black rally stripes. The transformable behemoth also has a special logo.
Our ePedelec can't transform itself, but as a Bumblebee or a mail carrier it is energetic and powerful, has an extremely large load volume, is technically ultra-modern and in its own way, compared to many other cargo bikes - a beauty!
