News from the Fleet team: conclusion of the winter maintenance season in the canton of Valais
The season for winter services in the canton of Valais has come to an end. Snow ploughs and salt spreaders go back to the depot for the summer overhaul. For the first time, the recording and invoicing of all winter service assignments were carried out completely electronically via our Fleet System. The changeover from paper operation to electronic order processing was a big step for many of the 120 cantonal officials and road maintenance workers. Automatic invoicing with Fleet takes place over several stages. The system independently calculates the deployment and billing data and sends it to the persons responsible for the necessary approvals in two stages.
A total of around 20,000 assignments were recorded in the past season. Almost half of these were billed to private subcontractors. The rest were carried out by the canton's own vehicles.
Thanks to good training by the canton and support from the KYBURZ hotline, the changeover worked well. A feedback workshop held by the canton showed that the users get along well with the system and rely on the billing data without reservations.
