Fleet Ahoi!
In order to evaluate whether the Fleet system is also suitable for use on the water, I equipped Martin Kyburz's boat with the Fleet. In addition to the Fleet Box, I integrated various sensors (door sensor, flow meter, water level sensor, etc.) into the boat in order to be able to measure other variables not recorded by the boat, such as fuel consumption. In addition, the camera mounted on the deck enables a simple visual check of the boat's condition after a storm, for example.
In the course of these installations, I also installed a 2ndLife battery in the boat in cooperation with Yunus Ruff to ensure a permanent supply of power to the Fleet Box.
At the moment, we are still working on the integration of an echo sounder, with which it will be possible to measure the water depth below the boat in the future. This will not only make it possible to see whether the boat was travelling in shallow water, but also to create a topographical map of the river/lake bottom up to a maximum water depth of 30 metres.
For me, this work marks the end of a great internship at KYBURZ.
Do you have any questions about the project? Hanspeter Wepfer will be happy to answer them.
